Radwa Ghanima is the elected President and board director of the Alberta Independent Pharmacy Association (AIPA). Radwa is an Alberta-based pharmacist who has been proudly serving Albertans for over 15 years of practice. In 2017, Radwa received her additional prescribing authorization and has been prescribing in her practice. Radwa is passionate towards chronic disease management. In 2018, She became a certified Diabetes educator and has been serving this patient population ever since.
Throughout her career, Radwa worked both as a hospital and a community pharmacist. Radwa worked for big chains her entire career. She then founded her Independent Pharmacy RG Pharmacy Clinic right here in Alberta to bring all her innovative ideas to life in a patient-centred facility nested in her neighbourhood and community.
Immigrating to Canada with her family. The travelling and exposure she had from a very young age laid the platform for her to communicate effectively with a wide variety of cultures, respecting each one of them and cherishing the diversity of our Canadian communities. Radwa is fluent in Arabic which helped her address this patient population effectively through her practice. Radwa believes Independent pharmacists bring a core value of centralized patient care to their communities and through her role she will be advocating for and highlighting the importance of Independent pharmacists in pharmacy practice.
Janak Patel is the elected Treasurer and board Director of the Alberta Independent Pharmacy Association (AIPA). With over a decade of experience as a pharmacist and owner of community-based pharmacies, Janak is deeply committed to protecting and advancing the role of independent pharmacies in Alberta’s healthcare system. He advocates for fair policy, sustainable business models, and greater recognition of the vital services delivered by local pharmacy teams.
Chirag Bhatt is an elected board director of the Alberta Independent Pharmacy Association (AIPA) and a licensed Alberta pharmacist and experienced pharmacy owner with over a decade of service in independent community pharmacy practice. Since becoming a registered pharmacist in 2014, Chirag has worked extensively across Alberta—including in rural communities—where he witnessed firsthand the essential role pharmacies play as accessible frontline healthcare providers.
He currently owns and manages Bonnie Doon Pharmacy and serves as the proprietor of two additional independent pharmacy locations. Much of Chirag’s practice is focused on geriatric care, where he is dedicated to helping seniors manage chronic therapies and improve their quality of life through patient-centered support and education.
Chirag believes that independent pharmacies are the backbone of community health across Alberta, yet remain underrepresented in both policy and funding frameworks. As a Board Director at AIPA, he is committed to uniting independent pharmacy voices, advocating for fair recognition, and ensuring independent pharmacists are supported and empowered to continue delivering exceptional care.
Lav Soni is an elected board director of the Alberta Independent Pharmacy Association (AIPA) . Lav has been a registered Canadian Pharmacist since 2016. Before becoming a pharmacy owner he worked major time in his professional career at Independent Pharmacies. Lav has worked in a large corporate pharmacy as well. Lav believes that being an owner is a rewarding experience and possesses a unique set of challenges in an ever-changing landscape of pharmacy funding framework. Lav firmly believes that Independent pharmacies are an integral part of community and person-centered care. Lav is a team player at heart as being an avid cricketer and fan of the game. He likes to contribute in any way he can to achieve the objectives. Lav is looking forward to the new role at AIPA.
Mohsin Muhammad is an elected board director of the Alberta Independent Pharmacy Association (AIPA) .
Mohsin is a licensed clinical pharmacist and business leader with over two decades of experience in healthcare, academia and pharmacy sectors. He currently serves as a Lead Pharmacy Manager at Smart Pharma, where he focuses on patient-centered care, addiction treatments, and innovative pharmacy operations.
In addition to his clinical and managerial roles, Mohsin is the founder of Pharmacy Revision, a Calgary-based institute supporting internationally educated pharmacists through licensure preparation and professional development.
He also holds training in data science, which he integrates into pharmacy operations to support evidence-based decision-making and optimize care delivery. As a director at AIPA, Mohsin is committed to protecting the interests of independent pharmacy owners, advocating for sustainable funding models, and strengthening the voice of pharmacists in shaping Alberta’s healthcare policies.
